UPCOMING WEBINAR
Many brands struggle to proactively address supply chain issues and see their profit margins compress as a result. However, a comprehensive strategy can give brands the leverage to succeed in a competitive market. I've brought together a few of my colleagues for an in-depth discussion of everything from tariffs, customs, EPR, and more. Registration link here.
CLIENT WINS
The New York Times dug into how scientists, conservationists and the fragrance industry are working to revive extinct scents and perpetuate threatened ones. Always love to see what Jasmina Aganovic of Arcaea has to say!
Who says sports can’t be cute? Ulta just introduced its biggest investment in women’s sports with its Ulta Beauty Roster - a collection of professional female athletes who are changing the game.
Kelp, Kelp Baby! Source Beauty clients Credo and True Botanicals were two of the 10 brands selected for the first ever Kelp CoLab, an initiative from GreenWave, a global network of regenerative ocean farmers, and ingredient supplier Macro Oceans. Source Beauty is also proud to have GreenWave as a 2026 pro bono client.
THE HIT LIST
L'Oreal and Unilever were among some of the global companies calling for accelerated innovation to commercialize paper-based alternatives to plastic packaging. Small-format plastic packaging is a huge issue for beauty companies so it's exciting to see what frameworks exist for exploring alternatives. Read the report from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation here.
Making a "Made in USA" claim? Then you'll definitely want to read the National Advertising Division's 2025 Annual Report. They even coined July "Made in the USA Month."
What happens when the namesake for a sustainable beauty brand turns out to be extremely problematic? This rebranding case study of Dulcie (formerly Haeckels) gives a powerful roadmap.
Kailey Brandt, a colleague and the CEO of Pamela Anderson's gorgeous brand Sonsie, recently sat down for an interview with Shopify on scaling a sustainable brand. It's a fun listen.
Lastly, how does a vacation in Normandy, France with other sustainability practitioners sound? My colleague Annise Maguire is designing just that with her new GlIssence retreat for sustainability professionals.
JOB BOARD
With so many organizations shuffling their sustainability operations, it’s hard to keep track of what function sits where. A few opportunities that have caught my eye lately:
Ethical Trade Manager (Maternity Leave Cover) @ Charlotte Tilbury
Associate, Climate Action @ Estee Lauder
Global Head of Sustainability @ Givaudan
Corporate Sustainability Intern @ Pure Strategies
That’s all for now! Thank you to everyone who sent feedback on last quarter’s newsletter; I’m always tailoring these debriefs and your comments are very welcome.
